Those $1,200 Checks

Most of you know that our government plans to send out tax rebate checks. It’s estimated that 130 million Americans will benefit from an income tax rebate plan to stimulate the economy, with most households receiving $600 to $1,200.
In about two months, all of those checks will start pouring into the hands of average Americans, who will likely use them for things like televisions, Ipods, down payments on cars, house repairs, hot tubs, etc. In many cases, $1,200 will not completely pay for the item but a lot of people will borrow the rest to get what they want.
How many of these checks will be spent at your business? It’s time to start thinking about how to get your hands on as much of that rebate money as possible. Whether or not you’re in a retail business, that money can still find its way to your company.
If you are in retail, I would suggest that you have a “tax rebate sale” or some other promotion to attract customers into your store in order to get that money spent at your location.
If you’re not in retail but still deal with the public, use this as an opportunity to try to get people to spend their rebates with you. Market your services—whether you’re a dentist (time to whiten those teeth), a doctor (Sue needs a new nose job), in the home repair business (let’s start remodeling the bathroom), or a financial planner (some people might actually save their rebates).
Maybe you don’t deal with the public at all. But if your product or service is sold to businesses that do sell to the public, think of ways to help them sell more so that they will, in turn, spend more with you.
The bottom line is simple. All of this money will be spent and is supposed to stimulate the economy. Are you going to get your fair share? Will those rebate checks stimulate your business? I would recommend that you take a few minutes and think about what you can do to advertise or market so that you get as many of those $1,200 rebates as possible!
